Hello to all EDRM participants – current, past and future!
We invite you to the 5th EDRM Kick-Off Meeting, to be held in St. Paul, MN on May 13 and 14, 2009!

At this meeting, we will:
- Celebrate the conclusion of the EDRM IV projects: Evergreen, Model Code of Conduct, Metrics, XML, Search and Data Set;
- Pursue a modest goal during the afternoon of the first day: to shape the future of electronic discovery;
- Launch 6 projects for the coming year, all continuations of last year’s projects: Evergreen, Model Code of Conduct, Metrics, XML, Search, Data Set; and
- Discuss a potential new project: EDRM Jobs.
Reception and Dinner
We cordially invite all current and incoming EDRM participants to join us at a celebratory reception and dinner at the James J. Hill Library on Wednesday, May 13 to mark the conclusion of the EDRM 2008-2009 Projects and the launch of the EDRM 2009-2010 Projects. The reception will be at 6:30 pm and the dinner at 7:30 pm.
EDRM Projects
- EDRM Evergreen:
- Continue development of the Reference Model and ensure that the Electronic Discovery Reference Model remains current and relevant
- Enhance the content at each node of the model: Information Management, Identification, etc.
- Tighten connections between Evergreen and the other projects
- Education and outreach on the EDRM model
- EDRM Model Code of Conduct:
- Public release of the MCoC – Summer 2009
- Promotion of MCoC at industry events
- Education and outreach to electronic discovery providers and consumers
- Establish MCoC evergreen program
- EDRM Metrics:
Continue the EDRM Metrics Evergreen process - Develop tracking and reporting protocols
- Promote the adoption and use of EDRM Metrics measuring tools to track electronic discovery activity
- Promote the analysis of data collected
- Tighten connections between Metrics and the other projects
- EDRM XML:
- Commence development of the EDRM XML schema version 2.0
- Tighten connections between XML and the other projects
- EDRM Search:
- Develop Search XML specifications
- Develop Search validation tools
- Education and outreach programs
- Tighten connections between Search and other projects
- EDRM Data Set:
- Develop process to collect, classify and provide data
- Education and outreach programs
- EDRM Jobs (Proposed):
- Define project
- Set targets

Tuesday, May 12:
- Informal reception from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm in the Main Street Café in the lower level of the Saint Paul Hotel. This will be an opportunity to reconnect with current EDRM participants and to meet and welcome those who are first time participants in EDRM.
Wednesday, May 13:
- Registration and Continental Breakfast: 7:00 am to 8:00 am
- Meetings: 8:00 am to 4:00 pm
- Focus: EDRM project updates; Public Relations Committee and Advisory Committee introductions and reports; “Shaping the Future of Electronic Discovery” sessions, Kick-off meetings for the EDRM projects
Thursday, May 14:
- Continental Breakfast: 7:00 am to 8:00 am
- Meetings: 8:30 am to 1:00 pm
- Focus: Organizational meetings for the EDRM projects
Participation Fee and Deadline
To participate in the EDRM projects, organizations or individuals must pay an annual (May to May) fee. The fee to participate is based on (a) the type and size of organization and (b) number of projects in which the organization chooses to participate. Details at http://edrm.net/pricing.php.
NOTE: Starting with the 2009-2010 kick-off meeting, individual participants and participants from governmental agencies and academia who attend the Spring and Fall face-to-face working meetings will be required to pay a meeting fee of $250 per meeting to cover a portion of meeting expenses.
