RHoK Atlanta Winners Recognized by City Council

The winners of RHoK Atlanta recently had the opportunity to meet with their local City Council about Random Hacks of Kindness.  On January 17th, 2011, the Atlanta City Council issued a Proclamation on the occasion on behalf of the citizens of Atlanta, recognizing “Random Hacks of Kindness Atlanta for its commitment to ‘real technology solutions for real people.’”

Atlanta’s top two winning apps were identified and described in the City Council’s Proclamation: a mobile phone app helping restaurants redistribute excess prepared food to nonprofits serving those in need and an app providing geolocated mobile phone alerts based on local crime data.

RHoK Atlanta in December 2011 was Atlanta’s third RHoK event, with great local partnerships supporting RHoK on an ongoing basis, including local leads at the Georgia Tech Research Institutue and the Advanced Technology Development Center.
